Myanmar has full of festivals throughout year. Mostly after rainy season, the pagoda festivals are held every part of country in small to large scale. In this programme, we would like to introduce a large festival “Phaung Daw Oo” pagoda in Inle lake and “Pinn” pagoda in Yenan Chaung, 100 km south of Bagan.
“Phaung Daw Oo” pagoda festival / Closing day on 3rd waning of the month Thadingyut * 31 Oct 2015
The holy images of the Buddha from Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda are placed on a decorated royal barge called Karaweik (Mythical Bird) and towed by leg-rowers stopping at each village to let people pay homage. We focus on the closing day which is full of peak activities. The festival is held with great magnificence and pageantry fun fairs and dances are also held. Shan traditional boat races are participated by leg-rowers of both men and women dressed in their national costumes. By visiting Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda festival one has chance of seeing the different races of Myanmar nationalities, such as, Danu, Inntha, Pa-O, Shan, Palaung, Kachin, Taung Yoe and son on. Moreover one could have chance to see the Shan people traditional dances and their type of music, drums, flutes, gong and such is their physical grace and personal charm.
“Pinn” pagoda festival / peak day on 8th waning of the month Thadingyut * 20 Oct 2011
Pinn pagoda( full name Pinn Sakkalan pa) is located about 6 km west of Yenan Chaung, closed to Ayeyarwaddy river. This is a small festival compared to nation wide. The most enchanting is the way to pagoda. One has to go through low ridge mountains, narrow valley, walking Banyan trees , native people from nearby villages travelled by bull-cart. In that pagoda festival, one can find food stalls, toy shops selling sundry consumer goods, magic show, puppet shows and dramas. People young and old simply love to have a stroll around the place where there is pagoda festival. This country side is virtually tourist away. This is the day worth seeing for those who are looking typical fun of Ahnyar land.
Area description of Yenan Chaung
Yenan Chaung lies about 100 kilometers south of Bagan. The road goes swinging along the low mountainous terrain. Travel from Bagan may take about 2 ½ hrs approximately. Yenan Chaung was the location of a strategically and tactically important oil refinery.While you are approaching you will see barren steppes and sandy streets. Yenan Chaung, the hottest and driest part of the country, the “dry zone”. The sandy roads which is the only connection to this part . After roaming deeper, it get into steppe-like areas, the roads are narrow, a simple bridge spans a deep gorge. At some flood zones which are wide, dry river courses. When rains in northern Myanmar, but this way, the rain water from the distant mountains derived. Then do not get through there, a torrential flood is blocking the path. The villages are even more isolated than now.
Day 01/ 29 Oct 2015( Thu) Arrival Yangon ( by morning/ midday flight ) ( – / – / D )
Welcome at airport for each individual group. Transfer to hotel. Dress up and make the day at own idea. At 4 PM meet at hotel’s lobby then group tour starts to Shwedagon pagoda, the most prominent land mark of Yangon. Welcome dinner at Golden duck restaurant at the south of Shwedagon pagoda.
Day 02/ 30 Oct 2015( Fri) Yangon-Heho flight Etd 14:30 ( 1:10 hr flying) ( B / L / D )
Morning tour to Yangon city center – walking down to main roads, viewing old buildings in colonial days, Yangon river front and china town. Lunch will be served on the way to airport. Fly to Heho. From airport, it takes about 50 min drive to Nyaung Shwe, the entrance to Inlay lake. Before getting Nyaung Shwe, a couple of stops shall be made for taking photos and visit Shwe Yan Pyay old Shan monastery. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Nyaung Shwe.

Day 03/ 31 Oct 2015( Sat) Inlay lake / peak day of Phaung Daw Oo pagoda festival ( B / L / D )
Leave hotel around 06:30 to catch the festival activities. Enjoying the whole morning at pagoda area. After lunch tour to Indein- Taking the boat to the down south and into a small twist and turn creek running into the lake, we would reach the Indein village – a small village located at the south western bank of the lake famous for its ruined clusters of pagodas dated back to 16th century. The tranquility, peaceful ambience and ruins overgrown with bushes would bring you to centuries back. Return to hotel during sunset. Overnight at Nyaung Shwe.
Day 04/ 01 Nov 2015( Sun) Heho- Mandalay flight Etd 16:00 ( 0:30 hr flying) ( B / L / D )
For the whole morning, visit again Inlay Lake exists 900 meters above the sea level and the home land of Inthar tribe. Visit the regional once in every fifth day market takes place around the different area of the Inle Lake if today coincides with the market day. Ngaphechaung monastery (formerly also known as jumping cat monastery for trained jumping cats) – more than one and a half century old monastery with its collection of ancient Buddha Images. Other attractions include unique leg-rowing style and fishing method of the Innthar; floating gardens and vegetable plantations; and weaving factory and black smith. Transfer to Heho airport for flight to Mandalay.

Day 05/ 02 Nov 2015( Mon) Mandalay –Mingun village ( B / L / D )
Mandalay, the last capital of Myanmar kingdom, includes Mahamuni Buddha Image – believed to be cast in bronze in front of Buddha himself and nowadays gilded with thick gold leaf; gold leaf hammering, marble carving, and tapestry making.
Late afternoon, we would take a short boat ride up river to reach Mingun, located at the other side of the Ayeyarwaddy river and north of Mandalay. The boat ride is always pleasant as one can learn the ways of local life along the river. Sightseeing highlights includes Pathodawgyi – believed to be one of the largest brick base in the world and it would be one of the wonders of the world in case if it was completed; Mingun bell – said to be world’s biggest un-cracked and ringing bell and Myatheindan pagoda represents for Buddhist cosmology. Back to Mandalay while sunset over the river.
Day 06/ 03 Nov 2015( Tue) Mandalay –Bagan flight Etd 09:00 ( 0:30 hr flying) ( B / L / D )
Bagan, one of Asia’s most popular archaeological destinations and one out of two most pre-eminent religious old cities in South East Asia. After landed Bagan visit to Nyaung Oo market – a typical local market; followed by visits to most distinctive pagodas such as Shwezigon Pagoda – the holiest one believed to be enshrined with Buddha tooth and hair ; Gubyaukgyi Temple ( Wetkyiinn village) – the 13th century ‘cave temple’ with fine frescoes of scenes from Jakatas; Anada Temple – one of the masterpieces surviving and remaining in Bagan and considered to be in the Mon architecture style. A visit to the lacquer ware factory followed by a visit to local village. Optional horse-cart ride among the nooks of old temple is very exclusive experience.
Day 07/ 04 Nov 2015( Wed) Bagan – Yenan Chaung * 2 ½ hr drive ( B / L / D )
The whole morning should be another visit Bagan especially exploring Minanthu area. This is the area studded with still ruined structures looks inviting you to explore. Bayathonzu temple with fine mural painting, Kyat kan tunnel and view Bagan panorama from Tayoke pyay temple.
After lunch in Bagan, heading to Yenan Chaung. You will pass a medium town name “Chauk” A couple of stops shall be made for photos and excursion. After check in hotel, evening stroll to native meeting points like bazaar and shore of creek. Dinner at hotel or other pre arranged venue.

Day 08/ 05 Nov 2015( Thu) Yenan Chaung – Pinn pagoda festival site ( B / L / D )
It is recommended to walk with local revelers to the pagoda site. You will be awarded with full of fun – able to chat with native dwellers, curiosity to vendors , photo collecting with native revelers so on. Perhaps serve packed lunch at festival site. Return to Chauk in the late afternoon. Dress up and dinner at a pre arranged venue. Overnight in Yenan Chaung. Hotel – Le Hnyin Thar @ breezing height
Day 09/ 06 Nov 2015( Fri) Yenan Chaung – Bagan via Kyaukpadaung ( B / L / D)
Bagan – Yangon flight Etd 17:30 ( 1:15 hr flying)
Depend on interest in Yenanchaung, we are at liberty to do more in Yenan Chaung. At late morning departing back to Bagan via Kyaukpadaung. Lunch shall be served by take away box or at Kyaukpadaung available nice restaurant. It shall be met with only their standard. Before approaching back to Bagan, one may observe to a certain home cottage produce palm product. Before transferring to airport, the Thanakha( Limonia Acidissima) museum is a worth stop for your several need. After getting back farewell dinner shall be served.
Day 10/ 07 Nov 2015( Sat) Yangon – Onward departure flight ( B / – / )
Transfer to your returning flight(s). Those who are leaving evening shall be organized to Bogyoke market for your individual disposition. Then at an appointed time, take to all for airport. Tour end here.
